The Biden Administration’s plan to increase electric vehicle charging stations across the United States has faced setbacks, but a new round of federal grants worth $521 million could help accelerate progress. According to Reuters, the Energy Department and the Federal Highway Administration will use $321 million to expand EV charging infrastructure in 29 states and the District of Columbia, with the remaining $200 million funding 10 corridor fast-charging projects. Major cities like Milwaukee and Atlanta will receive substantial portions of the grants to install charging stations. This initiative is part of a larger $7.5 billion plan to build 500,000 EV charging stations by 2030, although progress has been slow, with only seven stations built since the plan was announced two years ago.
