Adobe unveiled Firefly AI video generation tools that will arrive in beta later this year, integrating tools to automate creative work and framing it as supplementary tech to take the tedium out of post-production. The new Firefly-powered text-to-video, Generative Extend, and image-to-video AI tools in Premiere Pro are designed to help editors with tasks like navigating gaps in footage, removing unwanted objects, and creating b-roll. Examples show AI-generated videos from text prompts, control over camera angles, zoom, and motion, as well as filling gaps in timelines and transforming still images into videos. The quality of the AI-generated content is undeniable, with convincing results in various scenarios. The tool will initially generate five-second clips and is trained only on Adobe Stock database to avoid IP issues. Adobe emphasizes that its new video models will be available in beta later this year, inviting users to sign up for a waitlist to try them out.
