Google is rolling out a series of safety updates for Chrome, designed to enhance online security. These updates include protection against abusive notifications, limited site permissions, and improved extension reviews. Safety Check, Chrome’s security monitor, will now run continuously in the background, informing users of the steps it’s taking to protect their browsing experience. It will remove permissions from unused sites and potentially deceptive ones, while flagging alerts and issues that require attention. Additionally, Google is reducing the duration of site permissions on Chrome for desktops and Android devices, allowing users to approve mic or camera access only once. The update also enables easier unsubscribing from sites and extends this feature beyond Pixel devices to include more Android devices.
