In a landmark decision, employees at an Apple Store in Oklahoma City’s Penn Square Mall have successfully ratified their first collectively-bargained contract through the Communications Workers of America, operating as Apple Retail Union-CWA Local 6016. This three-year agreement includes wage increases, worker involvement in scheduling, guaranteed paid time off, a safer work environment, job protection in case of closure, severance pay, and various benefits. This achievement comes after years of preparation and organizing efforts, culminating in a unanimous strike authorization vote and a store picket. Notably, the Oklahoma City employees are the second group of Apple retail workers to secure a contract through their union, following in the footsteps of an Apple Store in Maryland which unionized earlier in the year.
