As extreme weather events become more common, climate risks are influencing people’s long-term decision-making, especially when it comes to buying real estate. In response, Zillow has partnered to provide climate risk information on its for-sale listings in the US, including flood, wildfire, wind, heat, and air quality risks, as well as any climate-related insurance requirements. This data, provided by specialist First Street, is now rolling out on the Zillow website and iOS app, with an Android update expected next year. The interactive map search view now includes color-coded visualizations of these climate risks nationwide or in specific regions. While this information is valuable for homebuyers, for others, it may just add a touch of reality to the experience of browsing through homes. Zillow also recently enhanced its AI search feature.
