Game Freak, the developer of Pokémon, has confirmed a breach as internal materials related to the franchise, including source codes and character designs, were leaked on social media. In a statement released on Thursday, the company revealed that their servers were hacked in August, leading to the exposure of sensitive employee information. The leaked content, known as the “Teraleak” files, includes source codes for past games, codenames for future games, references to a Pokémon MMO, discussions from design meetings, details on unreleased projects like a Detective Pikachu sequel, and plans for new anime series and movies. The leak also revealed beta character designs and concept art. Despite the massive scale of the breach, neither Nintendo nor The Pokemon Company have publicly acknowledged it. Game Freak is working to strengthen its security measures and has apologized for the breach, which affected over 2,600 current and former employees.
