Amazon is making big changes to its “God of War” series, following the success of “Fallout” and aiming to meet high expectations for its next Prime Video gaming adaptation. According to Deadline, the showrunner and two executive producers have left the project as the streamer looks to move in a different creative direction. Rafe Judkins, Mark Fergus, and Hawk Otsby are no longer involved with the project, despite their praised screenplays, signaling a desire for a fresh perspective. Amazon plans to hire new talent for the show, including a new showrunner and writers’ room to reimagine the live-action portrayal of Kratos. The series, based on the 2018 franchise reboot, shifts the action from Greek to Norse mythology, following Kratos on a journey to fulfill his wife’s final wish amidst battles with gods and monsters. Co-produced by Amazon Studios and Sony Pictures Television, the series retains key figures like Cory Barlog as an executive producer and Asad Qizilbash, Carter Swan, Yumi Yang, and Roy Lee in various roles.
