It’s now more challenging to track celebrities’ private jet flights and carbon emissions as Meta has shut down Instagram and Threads accounts dedicated to this purpose, as reported by TechCrunch. Meta stated that these accounts were disabled due to privacy policy violations, including those following the flights of Taylor Swift, Bill Gates, and Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg. College student Jack Sweeney, who manages these accounts, confirmed the news on his personal account and has faced pushback in the past, such as Elon Musk suspending Sweeney’s @ElonJet account and Taylor Swift’s lawyers sending a cease-and-desist letter. Despite the Biden administration allowing private aircraft owners to keep their registration data anonymous, Sweeney mentioned that with tips and research, he can still track these flights.
