Tesla sued over fatal Autopilot crash

Tesla is facing more legal action over Autopilot after the parents of a motorcyclist killed in a crash involving a Model 3 sued the company, claiming that the car’s driver assistant tech and safety measures are “defective and inadequate.” Autopilot sensors and cameras allegedly failed to identify the motorcycle hazard, resulting in the fatal crash where Autopilot was engaged as the Model 3 collided with Landon Embry’s motorcycle in Utah in 2022. His parents also argue that a reasonable driver or adequate auto braking system could have prevented the collision. Tesla, without a public relations department, has not commented on the lawsuit. This incident is just one of many legal and regulatory challenges Tesla has faced regarding Autopilot and Full Self-Driving features, with recent reports attributing a fatal crash in Washington to Full Self-Driving mode.
