The cozy life sim game, “Tales of the Shire,” set in the world of Lord of the Rings, has a new release date of March 25, 2025, and a new name, “Tales of the Shire: A The Lord of the Rings Game.” The revelation occurred during the Private Division and Wētā Workshop’s Hobbit Day Showcase, where new footage and interviews with the game’s designers were shared. Wētā Workshop is assisting in developing the game, having previously worked on Peter Jackson’s Middle-earth films. Originally slated for 2024, the game was delayed to fine-tune details and ensure a fully realized version of the original vision. Despite featuring elements akin to Animal Crossing and Stardew Valley, including farming, fishing, and deep character interactions, “Tales of the Shire” will not include romance, as the developers felt it didn’t align with the game’s tone. Available on PC via Steam, Nintendo Switch, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Netflix, the game offers a charming and cozy simulation experience for players.
