Last week, Amazon announced the latest update to its Fire HD 8 lineup, offering the new 2024 model with improvements including more RAM, enhanced camera features, and built-in AI capabilities. The tablet, which normally starts at $100 with lock-screen ads, is on sale for Prime Day at just $55. The Fire HD 8 features an 8-inch display with a resolution of 1280 x 800 (189 ppi) and comes with 3GB of RAM in the base storage tier (32GB), with a 64GB variant offering 4GB of RAM. Amazon promises up to 13 hours of battery life and a 5MP rear camera on the device. The tablet also includes generative AI features such as Writing Assist and other tools to improve productivity. Additionally, Amazon has released two kids’ versions of the tablet, the Fire HD 8 Kids and Fire HD 8 Kids Pro, which come with kid-proof cases in Disney-themed designs and a subscription to Amazon Kids+. The Fire HD 8 is currently available on Amazon for $55 (usually $100), while the Fire HD 8 Kids tablet is on sale for $70 (usually $140) for Prime Day.
