An artist known as @tofu_rabbit on X has claimed that Nerf’s Ace of Spades handgun from Bungie’s Destiny games was inspired by a commissioned artwork they created almost a decade ago. The collaboration between Nerf and Bungie for a limited edition foam dart gun featuring the iconic Ace of Spades from Destiny 2 was unveiled recently and is available for purchase on Bungie’s online store. @tofu_rabbit posted images on their DeviantArt page comparing their original art from 2015 to the Nerf gun, pointing out 11 specific design elements that align with their artwork. They assert that the design of the Nerf gun was directly lifted from their commission and goes beyond mere similarity or coincidence. Bungie has responded, stating they are investigating the claims and will provide further information once they have more details. In addition, inquiries have been made to Nerf’s parent company Hasbro for their perspective on the matter.
