Recently reported by Bloomberg, Apple is preparing to release an updated iPhone SE, marking the first update to the low-end model since 2022. According to 9to5Mac, Apple plans to utilize the phone as a platform for its in-house 5G modems, following their purchase of Intel’s smartphone modem business in 2019. Despite a complicated history with Qualcomm, Apple settled a patent dispute with the company and currently equips its devices with Qualcomm-made 5G modems, with a supply deal in place until 2026. The upcoming iPhone SE 4 is set to resemble the iPhone 14, powered by an A18 chip with 8GB of RAM and featuring Face ID, a 48MP wide camera, and a speculated spring release in 2025.
