Apple’s latest iOS 18.1 and iPadOS 18.1 developer betas have arrived, introducing new features including a Clean Up tool in the Photos app, similar to Google’s Magic Eraser. This tool allows users to remove background objects without affecting the subject, even if the unwanted item overlaps with the main focus of the photo. The Photos app can also identify distracting background elements and offers the option to remove them with a tap or by circling or brushing over them. Additionally, the beta includes updates for Mail and Messages notifications, with plans for future features like emoji generation, in-app actions, and ChatGPT integration. These new Apple Intelligence features are currently only available on iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max devices, as well as Macs and iPads with an M1 chip or newer. Users can install the beta versions, but should be aware of potential bugs and back up their data before updating. The full release of iOS 18.1 and iPadOS 18.1 is expected in October, following the iPhone 16 event next month.
