Don Lemon’s “premium” video hosting deal on X was canceled in March, which led to Lemon threatening legal action against Elon Musk and his platform for non-payment. Five months later, Lemon filed a lawsuit in California Superior Court in San Francisco, claiming that Musk and X failed to honor their payment agreement for producing a news and interview show on the X platform. Despite an alleged agreement where Lemon would receive $1.5 million annually and a share of advertising revenue, Lemon never signed a contract as Musk told him paperwork was unnecessary. The lawsuit follows an episode where Lemon interviewed Musk on controversial topics, prompting Musk to end their deal. In response, X CEO Linda Yaccarino mentioned similar deals with Tucker Carlson, Tulsi Gabbard, and Jim Rome, but many shows like Lemon’s have yet to materialize on the platform.
