    Former YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki has died

    Susan Wojcicki, who was the CEO of YouTube for nearly a decade until she stepped down last year, has passed away at the age of 56 after battling non-small cell lung cancer for two years. Her husband Dennis Troper shared the news on Facebook, remembering her as a brilliant mind, loving mother, and dear friend. Wojcicki played a crucial role in Google’s early days, operating out of her garage and contributing to the creation of Google Image Search and AdSense. She later spearheaded the acquisition of YouTube in 2006 and became its CEO in 2014, leading the platform to generate billions in revenue. Beyond her work at Google, Wojcicki was a vocal advocate for gender equality in tech and supported the plight of refugees. Sundar Pichai, Alphabet’s current CEO, paid tribute to her significant impact on Google’s history and the world.
