Google has announced a new beta test feature for Google Wallet that allows US passports to be used as digital identification. This feature will be accepted at certain Transportation Security Administration (TSA) checkpoints in select US airports, streamlining the security process for travelers. Currently, 21 states and Puerto Rico have airports that accept digital IDs, and travelers can check the TSA’s website for a map of participating states. Digital ID adoption has been increasing nationwide for both Android and iPhone users, with major airports in Arizona, Colorado, and Georgia already accepting state IDs from Google Wallet users. Additionally, California has recently started accepting IDs in Apple Wallet and Google Wallet at some airports.
