Google Meet is introducing a new AI tool called “take notes for me,” which will generate summaries of key points during video calls using Gemini AI to record discussion points in a Google Doc saved in the meeting owner’s Drive. This document can be shared with attendees or added to the calendar event after the call, including links to the recording and transcript if enabled. The note-taking feature is currently available to Google Workspace customers with specific add-ons, limited to English language, and only accessible on computers or laptops. Google’s integration of generative AI into more services was announced last year, with aggressive implementation in hardware and software, such as Gemini AI being embedded in Android and Workspace apps. The effectiveness of these AI features may vary based on accuracy and performance, with concerns lingering about Google’s AI providing inaccurate suggestions like putting glue on pizza.
