Three new theft protection features that Google announced earlier this year have reportedly started rolling out on Android, including Theft Detection Lock, Offline Device Lock, and Remote Lock. These tools are designed to allow users to quickly lock down their devices in case of theft, preventing thieves from accessing sensitive information. Android reporter Mishaal Rahman shared on social media that the first two tools appeared on a Xiaomi 14T Pro, with some Pixel users also starting to see Remote Lock. Theft Detection Lock is activated by the act of snatching, using Google AI to detect if someone tries to steal the phone and locking the screen accordingly. Offline Device Lock automatically locks the screen when the phone is disconnected from the internet. Remote Lock allows users to lock their phone remotely without needing to enter their Google account password, simply requiring their phone number and a quick security challenge.
