Heart Machine has announced that the Steam Early Access launch of “Hyper Light Breaker” has been delayed to “very early next year,” citing the need for more time to polish the gameplay experience in collaboration with its publisher Arc Games. The studio expressed a desire to not release a game below its standards and to avoid burnout within the team. Originally aimed for a spring 2023 launch, the game has faced a series of delays, with the most recent pushback from this summer. “Hyper Light Breaker” is described as an action rogue-lite set in a 3D environment in a fantasy-cyberpunk universe, offering an open-world experience called the Overgrowth and online co-op gameplay. Engadget Senior Editor Jessica Conditt noted the game’s unique feature of exploring the world on a hoverboard, avoiding enemies and enjoying the scenery.
