    • In June, Rivian doubled Amazon EV van deliveries to over 30,000, and Rizon electric box trucks expanded across Los Angeles fleets.
    • Over 6,000 new zero-emission trucks were deployed in the first half of 2025, solidifying 2025 as the 3rd best year on record for zero-emission truck deployments.

Medium- and heavy-duty electric vehicles are hitting the road in 2025, and we’ve collected last month’s most exciting news. After another record year of zero-emission truck deployments in 2024, this year promises more big announcements. This monthly blog series will showcase the biggest orders and deployments of zero-emission trucks happening around the country.

June announcements include major deployments from Amazon’s 2019 Rivian order, as well as several fleets across Los Angeles choosing zero-emission solutions. Check out the details on each announcement below.

Rivian delivers more vans to Amazon in first half of 2025

Amazon now has more than 30,000 electric delivery vans operating in the United States, according to a new report published on Amazon’s website. This is part of Amazon’s long-term agreement with Rivian, first announced in 2019, to deploy 100,000 electric vans by 2030. Rivian supplied 15,000 vans by August 2024, doubling that number in one year.

Rizon box trucks deployed across Los Angeles

Several fleets deployed Rizon electric box trucks last month, including entertainment companies Treefort Entertainment and LA Percussion. Additionally, South Bay Fabrication, a precision sheet metal and fabrication specialist in Huntington Beach added a Rizon e18L to their operations. All companies operate across the Los Angeles area.

The first half of the year demonstrated that fleets are still all in on electric. In 2025, upwards of 6,000 new electric trucks have been deployed, with plenty of room for growth as the year continues. This year has already exceeded 2022 deployment levels by around 3,000 trucks, positioning the market for another successful year.

Now is a critical time for fleets to invest in medium- and heavy-duty electric trucks. These vehicles improve public health and help combat the climate crisis by reducing greenhouse gas emissions and air pollution. Unlike traditional diesel-powered trucks, electric trucks produce no tailpipe emissions, which significantly cuts down on health-harming pollution. Adoption represents a key step toward a more sustainable and resilient transportation industry.

Check back here next month to see a collection of the most exciting zero-emission vehicle announcements from July. In the meantime, check out EDF’s Electric Fleet Deployment & Commitment List to track announcements as they happen in real time.
