OpenAI reportedly plans to start charging $22 a month for the use of ChatGPT by the end of the year, with intentions to increase the monthly price up to $44 over the next five years. The company’s financial documents obtained by The New York Times reveal that OpenAI generated $300 million in revenue in August and expects to reach $3.7 billion in sales by the end of the year, but various expenses are projected to cause a $5 billion loss for the company. In an effort to attract new investors and mitigate its financial shortfall, OpenAI is sharing the financial documents highlighted in The New York Times report. The company, currently valued at $150 billion, is aiming to raise up to $7 billion in a new round of investments. OpenAI is also transitioning from a non-profit to a for-profit model, which may lead to higher returns for investors and potentially attract new investors at higher rates.
