Polaris Dawn astronauts Jared Isaacman and Sarah Gillis successfully completed the first ever commercial spacewalk on September 12, after preparing for the event and donning SpaceX extravehicular activity (EVA) suits to protect themselves from the vacuum of outer space. Isaacman exited the Crew Dragon first, performing mobility exercises against the backdrop of Earth before returning to the capsule. Gillis encountered a slight issue with the hatch seal but managed to successfully exit the vehicle and perform her exercises. The team then closed the hatch, repressurized the Dragon, and checked for leaks, with the entire spacewalk concluding by 7:55AM Eastern time.
