Despite the vast reach of the internet, language barriers often hinder the ability of users to fully engage with websites. However, Reddit is utilizing artificial intelligence to address this issue, with Redditors in over 35 countries soon able to automatically translate their entire feeds. Initially launched in France, this machine learning-powered feature is now available in Brazil and Spain, where users can click a translate icon to have their feeds translated into Portuguese and Spanish. Unlike platforms like Instagram, where users must manually translate each post, Reddit automates the process. This feature can be accessed on the app, mobile browser, or desktop, with plans to expand to Germany, Italy, the Philippines, and countries across Latin America. Reddit also plans to add a banner on translated posts and a button to view the original content, as well as make translated content searchable on search engines.
