The 2024 Roku Ultra, announced today at the company’s developer conference, is the latest update to the streaming player that was previously one of our top picks for a streaming device. The new model boasts a 30 percent faster performance in content loading and interface navigation thanks to a new quad-core processor, along with Dolby Atmos audio, Dolby Vision for 4K and HDR10+ picture quality, and support for Wi-Fi 6 and ethernet connection. Additionally, the updated Voice Remote Pro (2nd edition) features backlit buttons, USB-C charging, and direct access to a Live TV Guide and Quick Launch for personalized app recommendations and voice commands. Roku OS 14 is also being introduced, offering more customization with thumbs up and thumbs down icons for feedback on programming, enhanced Kids & Family content accessibility, and additional voice controls. The update will be available to supported devices in the US in the coming months.
