NASA and SpaceX are planning to undock the Crew-8 mission vehicle from the ISS on October 13 at 3:05 AM Eastern time, after delaying the original return date of October 7 due to weather conditions and potential impacts from Hurricane Milton. The Crew-8 mission launched on March 4 with astronauts Matthew Dominick, Michael Barratt, Jeanette Epps, and Alexander Grebenkin conducting various experiments on the International Space Station, including sequencing antibiotic-resistant organisms’ DNA, studying human brain organoids, printing human tissues, and working with an Astrobee robot. NASA will likely livestream their return. Meanwhile, SpaceX’s Crew-9 mission astronauts have been on board since September 29, with Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams set to return to Earth on the Crew-9 vehicle after flying to the ISS on the Boeing Starliner. Wilmore and Williams have already tested their SpaceX spacesuits and completed all necessary tasks for the journey back.
