AST SpaceMobile successfully launched its network of five commercial satellites into low-Earth orbit on September 12, marking a significant milestone in its mission to offer space-based mobile communications without the need for additional hardware. The company’s BlueBird satellites are designed to provide standard smartphones with voice, data, and video speeds comparable to broadband towers, enabling users to stay connected even in areas with limited coverage. AST has partnered with AT&T to offer satellite communication services, conducting successful voice and data tests over its network. The launch event can be watched in a video with a 10-second countdown at 1:16:09.
