Starlink’s local bank accounts are frozen as X prepares to be shut down in Brazil

In Brazil, a judge has taken action against Starlink by freezing the company’s bank accounts amidst a growing feud with X. This move comes as the same judge threatens to shut down X in the country, directly linked to an ongoing legal battle with the social media company. X owner Elon Musk has been at odds with Brazil’s Supreme Court judge Alexandre de Moraes for months over demands to block certain accounts, ultimately resulting in X closing its operations in Brazil earlier this month due to court orders characterized as “censorship.” Moraes is now utilizing Musk’s other company, SpaceX-owned Starlink, to compel X to comply with the court order, leading Starlink to declare the decision as unfounded and unconstitutional. Additionally, Moraes has warned of a potential shutdown of X in Brazil if they do not appoint a legal representative in the country. X responded by emphasizing their refusal to violate Brazil’s laws and plans to disclose Moraes’ demands and court filings in the near future.
