Starting next year, fans of “Stranger Things” will have the opportunity to watch the stage play spin-off titled “Stranger Things: The First Shadow” on Broadway. The prequel to the popular sci-fi/horror series has won two Olivier Awards and various accolades since its debut on the West End in December 2023, with its production extended until 2025. Performances on Broadway are set to begin on March 28, 2025, at the Marquis Theatre in New York. Set in 1959, the play follows the story of Jim/Hop, Joyce, and Bob, played by Sean Astin, as seniors who are eager to graduate and leave town. The arrival of new student Henry Creel challenges their plans, uncovering the shadows of the past with far-reaching consequences. “The First Shadow” is based on a story by the Duffer Brothers, the creators of “Stranger Things,” who will also serve as the play’s creative producers, with Tony award winner Stephen Daldry directing. While casting details have not been revealed, fans can sign up on The First Shadow’s official website to gain early access to pre-sale tickets, available from September 13, before general ticket sales commence on September 17.
