Volkswagen is partnering with AirConsole to introduce casual multiplayer games that can be played using your phone as a controller on several EVs and other models, including the ID.7, ID.5, ID.4, ID.3, Passat, Tiguan, Golf, and Golf Estate. The AirConsole app will be available on the VW Active Info Display, allowing passengers to join in on the fun by scanning a QR code with their smartphones. This feature is only accessible when the vehicle is parked, making it a convenient way to pass the time while waiting at an EV charging station or idling. While VW is not the first automaker to incorporate AirConsole into their vehicles, this trend has been growing with Tesla offering access to Steam in some models. With games becoming more common in cars, there’s a potential for installations like a PS5 in an ID.Buzz as a modern twist on “Pimp My Ride.”
