Waymo and Uber are planning to bring their robotaxi service to more locales in the near future, with Waymo One set to arrive in Austin and Atlanta by early 2025. Residents in these cities will be able to ride in Waymo’s autonomous, electric Jaguar I-PACE vehicles through the Uber app. Waymo employees in Austin are already utilizing the service, with plans to open access to a limited number of public riders via the Waymo One app before transitioning to Uber. In Atlanta, public rides will start in early 2025, with gradual expansion in the city. Waymo initially announced intentions to expand to Austin in 2023, and riders currently take over 100,000 trips each week in San Francisco, Phoenix, and Los Angeles. In May, Waymo reported facilitating 50,000 paid trips every week.
