In its pursuit to be an all-encompassing app, X is developing a new feature named X Conference, which appears to be more tailored towards its employees than its actual users. The company is currently testing this in-house version of Zoom, with X employee Chris Park noting its basic multi-person video conferencing capabilities in comparison to other platforms like Zoom or Google Meet. Park mentioned potential upcoming features like pinning speakers and improved notifications, claiming X Conference is already a strong competitor to existing platforms. Despite support for spatial audio and captions, researcher Nima Owji highlighted the lack of demand for an X-owned video conferencing tool beyond internal use. While X has had technical difficulties with high-profile streams in the past, including Elon Musk’s stream with Donald Trump, the company continues to expand into corporate-friendly tools like job search features. Musk has expressed interest in creating a unique version of LinkedIn through X as well.
