Sony pushed a PS5 system update on Friday in response to Final Fantasy XVI bugs created by the console’s last firmware update, according to Square Enix. The publisher addressed the update on Twitter, stating that Sony Interactive Entertainment released a new system update to address crashes and graphical bugs on the PlayStation5 version of Final Fantasy XVI. Users had reported crashes and black squares obstructing the in-game camera after the previous PS5 system update triggered issues with loading saves or fast-traveling. The alleged fix, version 24.06-10.01.00, was described by Sony as improving “system software performance and stability.” IGN also reported similar bugs in other games like Star Wars Outlaws, Death Stranding, and No Man’s Sky caused by the firmware update. Reddit users claimed that the latest update fixed the problems with Final Fantasy XVI. To update your PS5, go to Settings > System > System Software > System Software Update and Settings, then choose Update System Software. If the update is not available, try restarting your console and checking again.
