Amazon is reportedly working on a low-cost storefront to rival Temu

According to The Information, Amazon is reportedly developing a secondary online sales platform to compete with the low prices offered by Chinese retailer Temu. The new platform, known as the “Low-Cost Store,” will have price caps of $8 for jewelry, $9 for bedding, $13 for guitars, and $20 for sofas shipped from Guangdong, China. Orders from this store will have slower shipping times of nine to 11 days but will charge lower fulfillment fees. Amazon’s traditional online storefront does not have price limits, making this new platform a departure from its usual strategy. This move aligns more closely with Temu’s pricing policy, which has faced criticism for selling items of dubious quality and facing allegations of forced labor.
