Amazon is set to become the seventh member of Hollywood’s influential lobbying group, the Motion Picture Association, with Prime Video & Amazon MGM Studios joining on October 1. This move aligns them with heavyweights like Paramount Pictures, Sony Pictures, Universal Studios, The Walt Disney Studios, Warner Bros. Discovery, and Netflix. Amazon’s existing partnership with the MPA through the Alliance for Creativity and Entertainment has laid the groundwork for this new membership, while MGM’s previous association with the group adds historical significance. MPA chairman Charles Rivkin emphasized the global impact and creative importance of these additions, noting their contribution to policymaking and content protection efforts. Amazon’s increasing presence in entertainment, alongside Netflix, underscores the growing influence of streaming platforms in shaping the industry landscape.
