The iPhone 16, priced starting at $799, continues the trend of receiving hand-me-down features from the Pro models, but this time, Apple has added some of the most attractive features for 2024 to both the regular and Pro iPhones simultaneously. This means expanded camera tools and a new action button are available without having to wait a year. While ProRAW stills and ProRES video remain exclusive to the priciest iPhones, the iPhone 16 also introduces a new “studio-quality” four-microphone setup. The addition of a reconfigurable action button and a Camera Control button for quick access to camera features enhance the user experience. The reoriented rear camera layout enables spatial photos and videos, and the new 48-megapixel Fusion camera with a quad-pixel sensor and improved low-light performance delivers high-quality images. The most significant update to the camera is Photographic Styles, allowing for real-time adjustment of skin tones and color before and after snapping a photo. While the new camera features are impressive, some users may find the placement of the buttons inconvenient, requiring adjustments to their grip for optimal performance. Nonetheless, the iPhone 16 closes the gap between the regular iPhone and the Pro models in terms of camera capabilities and overall user experience.
