Bluesky, a social network alternative to Threads for those fatigued by Elon Musk’s X platform, is now allowing users to upload video content, although limited to under a minute. While reminiscent of Twitter, Bluesky’s new feature comes with some restrictions such as a cap of 25 videos per day and the need for verified email addresses to upload videos. With support for various video file types and the ability to add subtitles, Bluesky aims to prevent spam and abuse through moderation and scanning for CSAM. The update to version 1.91 of the mobile app will gradually roll out to users to ensure a smooth experience, while also offering direct messages, a feature Threads lacks. Despite being a third choice behind X and Threads, Bluesky is gaining traction, particularly with a recent surge of Brazilian users following X’s ban in the country.
