Elon Musk has filed another lawsuit against OpenAI and CEO Sam Altman, alleging that the company breached its founding commitments by prioritizing commercial concerns over the public good. This time, the lawsuit has been filed in federal court under allegations of violating federal racketeering laws. The suit claims that Altman and co-founder Greg Brockman misled Musk when forming the company and granted Microsoft an exclusive license to OpenAI’s technology. Musk has asked the court to determine if OpenAI has achieved artificial general intelligence (AGI), which could nullify its contract with Microsoft. The original suit was withdrawn in June, and in response, OpenAI claimed to have different views on establishing a for-profit arm than Musk. Ultimately, Musk left OpenAI to start his own AI company, xAI.
