YouTube’s creator-focused “Made On YouTube” is back with a range of updates and features that indicate a push to compete with platforms like TikTok and Netflix. One notable addition is the “Hype” system, allowing viewers to promote videos from creators under 500,000 subscribers that are less than a week old, with the most hyped videos making it to a leaderboard. YouTube Shorts creators will soon have access to Google DeepMind’s Veo video generator, while a revamped Community tab is set to launch in early 2025, enabling subscribers to post and interact. Auto-dubbing will also be introduced to aid understanding of content in different languages, and the YouTube TV app will undergo an update resembling Netflix’s layout, introducing seasons, episodes, and previews. These new features are anticipated to roll out in the coming year, as YouTube continues to enhance the creator and viewer experience.
