Google responded to claims of “censored” searches about Donald Trump after Elon Musk falsely alleged the company had implemented a “search ban” on the former president, attributing the issue to bugs in its autocomplete feature. The tweet from Musk, which garnered over 118 million views, prompted Google to publicly address the functionality of one of its fundamental features. Additionally, Google clarified that the peculiar autocomplete suggestions for “president donald” were a result of a bug affecting searches related to various political figures, including former President Barack Obama. In a separate development, Perplexity announced plans to share revenue with publishers through its advertising platform, following criticisms from publications like Forbes for content scraping. Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip series devices were adopted by law enforcement agencies in a pilot program to assess how the foldable phones could enhance daily operations, particularly as bodycams, in collaboration with Visual Labs. Italian scientists have also developed a robot, VERO, equipped with leg-mounted vacuums to identify and collect litter, notably cigarette butts, which are a leading source of ocean pollution and challenging for traditional robots to address.
