Intel rolls out another fix for its CPU voltage issues

Intel has identified four scenarios that could result in voltage stability issues in its Core 13th and 14th-gen processors, leading to crashes and failures in computers. Customers have been experiencing problems with these processors since 2022, but it was only in July this year that Intel determined the issues were caused by elevated operating voltage due to incorrect requests sent by microcode algorithms. The company has released multiple updates to address the issue, with the latest patch, 0x12B, focusing on elevated core voltage requests during light activity or idle periods. Intel has worked with motherboard manufacturers to distribute the patches as BIOS updates, although it may take several weeks before they are fully rolled out. Despite the patches, PCs already showing symptoms may not be fixed, prompting Intel to extend warranties by two years for affected customers to get their devices replaced.
