At Meta Connect, alongside the Quest 3S and AI updates, we got a glimpse of Meta’s future as Meta finally unveiled its “full holographic” augmented reality glasses, Orion, which is still in prototype form. The company has been working on this project for a decade, aiming to create AR glasses that are less cumbersome and do not block the user from the real world like virtual reality headsets. Meta employees and select external audiences currently have access to Orion to help the company iterate and learn more before a consumer version is released, potentially in 2027 according to leaked roadmap. Snap also recently debuted AR Spectacles, available to developers for a monthly fee. Stay tuned for updates on this developing story.
