Meta is rolling out some of the previously announced features to its AI-powered Ray-Ban smart glasses for users in the US and Canada, as CTO Andrew Bosworth posted on Threads that the update includes more natural language recognition, eliminating the need for stilted commands. Most of the other AI tools showcased during last month’s Connect event are also being introduced today, such as voice messages, timers, and reminders, along with the ability to make phone calls or scan QR codes using Meta AI. CEO Mark Zuckerberg demonstrated the new reminders feature by locating a car in a parking garage on Instagram. However, the live translation feature is not included in this update and no timeline was provided. In another news, Meta’s smart glasses gained attention when two Harvard students used them to automatically dox strangers through Instagram streams, utilizing facial recognition technology and a language processing model to reveal sensitive personal information.
