Skype is going ad-free, with the latest update removing all ads from the platform, including Skype channels and the main chat interface in response to user feedback for a cleaner and more user-friendly experience. The “today” section and newsfeed will remain, now ad-free, and users can delete the newsfeed tab in settings. Additionally, Skype will offer a revamped AI image creation system on the desktop app with a more intuitive interface. Integration with OneAuth authenticator is added to the iOS app, replacing the old sign-in system to automatically log in users signed into other Microsoft apps. The update is available to everyone enrolled in the Skype Insider Program, rolling out gradually with Microsoft encouraging users to check for the update if not immediately available.
