Apple has released new patches, iOS 18.0.1 for iPhones and iPadOS 18.0.1, to address recording and password security issues with certain iPhones and iPads. Users with an M4-powered iPad can now upgrade to iOS 18 after an initial version was pulled for bricking users’ devices. The patch fixes recording issues with iPhone 16 models in the Messages app, preventing the microphone from accidentally starting to record before being activated. Additionally, a password patch has been released to address VoiceOver reading saved passwords aloud on select devices. Owners of eligible devices can update by navigating to the Software Updates tab in the General section of their Settings app.
