OpenAI staffers reportedly ‘taken aback’ by ‘ominous’ logo rebranding

OpenAI is set to undergo significant changes next year, including the introduction of a new logo. Staff members were reportedly disappointed when they caught a glimpse of the new design during a recent company-wide meeting, feeling that the replacement of the recognizable hexagonal flower symbol with a large black “O” lacked creativity and seemed ominous. The company initiated the redesign process a year ago with the addition of new team members for creative and design purposes, aiming to establish a more solid brand identity as it grows in prominence. Additionally, OpenAI is said to be transitioning from its complex non-profit corporate structure to a more traditional for-profit model in the upcoming year, under the leadership of CEO Sam Altman. However, if employee feedback is taken into consideration, the new logo may undergo further revisions to ensure a more positive reception from the company’s own staff members.
