Porsche recalls more than 27,000 Taycan EVs

Owners of the Porsche Taycan are facing a safety recall due to a short circuiting risk in one of the battery’s cell block modules, affecting more than 27,000 vehicles released from 2021-2024. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration issued the recall, with notifications expected to be sent to owners by the end of November. Porsche is recommending owners to bring their vehicles to the dealership for diagnostic monitoring of the battery, advising them to only charge up to 80 percent until further assessment. This issue echoes the recall of Chevrolet’s EV, the Chevy Bolt, which faced a similar battery fire risk in a previous recall, leading to a costly battery replacement process and the discontinuation of the EV line.
