Sam Altman’s startup, Worldcoin, is rebranding to simply World and shifting its focus from cryptocurrency to identification technology. The company unveiled its latest gadget, Orb, a biometric eye scanner designed for verifying human identities through Deep Face. Utilizing NVIDIA’s Jetson chipset, the Orb will be rolled out to customers on demand, with Chief Device Officer Rich Heley comparing its availability to ordering a pizza. World aims to expand its proof of human verification services globally, with nearly 7 million people already scanned by World Orbs. Attendees at the San Francisco launch event were gifted a free Orb for their identification needs.
