Samsung officially unveiled the groundbreaking glasses-free Odyssey 3D gaming monitor at Gamescom, utilizing a light field display, lenticular lens technology, and eye tracking features. With a built-in stereo camera and View Mapping technology, the monitor enhances depth perception for a realistic 3D experience similar to Acer’s SpatialLabs Edition laptop or ASUS ProArt StudioBook. Available in sizes up to 37 inches, users can easily activate or deactivate the 3D mechanism for traditional gaming. Sporting a 4K QLED panel, 165Hz refresh rate, 1ms response time, and AMD FreeSync support, the Odyssey 3D also includes DisplayPort and HDMI ports with a height-adjustable stand for optimal viewing angles. Expected to hit the market by the end of the year, Samsung has yet to reveal the price point but hints at a potentially steep cost due to the historical pricing of Odyssey gaming monitors without the added glasses-free 3D technology.
