After over five years of anticipation, the Section 31 spinoff from Star Trek has finally been given a release date. Titled “Star Trek: Section 31,” the movie will debut exclusively on Paramount+ on Friday, January 25, as announced during a Star Trek universe panel at Comic Con. Michelle Yeoh reprises her role as Emperor Philippa Georgiou from “Star Trek: Discovery,” leading a covert Starfleet division tasked with protecting the United Federation of Planets while confronting her own past. The project has been in development since 2019 and was originally planned as a TV show centered on Captain Georgiou, but was later reworked into a movie after receiving the green light in 2023, shortly after Yeoh’s Best Actress Oscar win. A teaser for “Star Trek: Section 31” was released by Paramount+ in July for fans to enjoy ahead of the premiere.
